As my primary relevant career experience, I led the administration department at the British School in Tokyo for 13 years, I have also spent 5 years teaching Japanese to these bilingual students and have spent countless hours speaking with those parents with their concerns and expectations.

 

I also have raised two children whom attended international schools; one went to Yale and went on to become a professional consultant, while the other worked at companies like Google. Both currently work in Japan as professionals.

I deeply understand, both as a mother, and as an educational professional, the concerns that parents have when aiming to raise bilingual children.

In particular, when in an international school, Japanese tends to lag behind when the environment is primarily non-Japanese, Japanese tends to lag behind. This is a legitimate concern that I have observed countless times.

We offer to support this need through hand-made materials to supplement reading comprehension, Kanji, and vocabulary building.
